Carbon Steel Coil
Carbon steel coil mainly refers to the steel with carbon mass fraction less than 2.11% and does not contain specially added alloy elements. Sometimes it is also called plain carbon steel or carbon steel. According to the use, carbon steel can be divided into three categories: carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel and free cutting structural steel. Carbon structural steel can be further divided into engineering construction steel and machine manufacturing structural steel.

Carbon Steel Round Bar Types

Mild and low carbon steels – (0.16-0.29% carbon content) :

Low hardness and softness. It includes most common carbon structural steels and some high-quality carbon structural steels. Most of them are used for engineering structural parts without heat treatment, and some are used for mechanical parts requiring wear resistance after carburization and other heat treatment.

Medium carbon steels – (0.30-0.59% carbon content) :

It includes most high-quality carbon structural steels and some ordinary carbon structural steels. This kind of steel is mostly used to make various mechanical parts, and some are used to make engineering structural parts.

High carbon steels – (0.6-0.99% carbon content) :

Hammers, crowbars, etc. are made of steel with a carbon content of 0.75%; Cutting tools such as drills, taps and reamers are made of steel with a carbon content of 0.90% to 1.00%.

Common Grades Of Carbon Steel

A36:The most common standard of carbon steel plate

A283:A very common structural steel plate available in A, B, and C

A516:A typical carbon steel plate found in boiler vessels

A537:Heat-treated carbon steel plate that’s common in fusion-welded pressure vessels

A573:Another structural steel plate with carbon, manganese, and silicon

A572:A carbon steel plate with higher mechanical strength than A36 at a lower weight

A737:Another carbon steel plate that’s found in boiler pressure vessels requiring lower carbon steel
